284 Munros in Winter

Back in November we reported that hill walker Steve Perry was to embark upon Britain´s toughest walk – to climb and walk between all 284 of Scotland´s Munro´s in winter. Well he´s just finished! Starting on December 1st he finished last Friday, an incredible achievement given the fact that Scotland has seen one of its coldest winters for some time. The walk of some 1,500 miles was undertaken without any transportation (except for the odd ferry!). For those who remember their history Martin Moran climbed all of the Munro´s in winter, but with the aid of vehicular transport which enabled him to pick and choose which he did based on the prevailing weather. A Munro is a Scottish mountain over 3,000 feet high.
