Andy Earl´s on Form

As well as beating long term rival Malcolm Smith in the Plywood Masters bouldering competition at the weekend, Andy Earl has just climbed what is being touted as Northumberland´s hardest and boldest route at Kyloe in the Woods. UKClimbing have reported that he has climbed a long term project of his called ´The Prow´, recognisable as the blank arete of Crucufix Buttress at the right hand end of the crag. Andy is reluctant to grade the protectionless route which features Font 7c/7c+ moves a long way above the ground.Despite Andy´s reservation on grading the route, it is perhaps the hardest and most commiting route in Northumberland when compared with routes like Malcolm Smith´s Transcendence which features easier moves and adequate protection
