Beacon to Open Wall in Plymouth

The Printworks is a new climbing centre being planned for Plymouth. This will be welcome news to the many climbers in the South West who presently have to travel as far as Bristol to enjoy an indoor session. The development is expected to be open by Christmas, subject to a planning application, which is with Plymouth Council at the moment. The Printworks will be easily accessible from both Cornwall and the rest of Devon, being just off the A38 and within easy reach of Plymouth city centre. The wall is being built in an old newspaper print building (surprisingly!) and will include the usual lead and top-rope walls, plenty of bouldering, a snack bar, gear shop and viewing gallery. The centre will cater for all levels of ability with regular comps, courses, bouldering aggregates, etc. It is also hoped that the Printworks will become an important and much needed social venue for climbers in the area. Any suitably qualified people interested in being involved with this project, either during construction or afterwards, should contact Gill or Steve at the Beacon Climbing Centre, North Wales on 01286 650045 or email info@beaconclimbing.com. Pictures of the proposed site have been posted on the Beacon web site (www.beaconclimbing.com) and the Printworks website should be up and running soon.
