The 42nd edition of Summit Magazine is to be the first made available to buy. Costing £3.50 on the BMC website it rivals Climb and Climber Magazine in price, and of late, has featured a series of quality articles, always illustrated with top notch photos. If you are a member of the BMC or a club affiliated to the BMC you will already receive 1 or 4 copies each year, but if not why not try Summit? After forking out for a few copies you´ll no doubt join the BMC if just for the magazine! The North Wales Volunteers´ Group is holding its inaugural meeting on Wednesday 7th June at 7.30pm in The Vaynol, Nant Peris.   Taking a lead from the Sandstone Volunteer Group, the aims of this first meeting are to thrash out ideas about the scope for access, conservation and environmental work in North Wales, to recruit local climbers and hill walkers with specific skills, contacts and enthusiasm, and to have a bit of a social. Food will be provided in the form of chips and butties. The group will shy away from things like committee structure, chairpeople and agendas, focussing instead on the practicalities of its work. The group aims to work in partnership with organisations such as the National Trust, Snowdonia National Park and the Countryside Commission for Wales amongst others. DMM have agreed in principle to be associated with the group, as have one or two „big cheeses“ who don´t mind rolling their sleeves up and getting involved…all are welcome!   Mick Johnson has taken up the voluntary position of Access Representative for the Yorkshire Area. The Glossopdale Area Forum will convene on Wednesday 7th June, giving an opportunity for local residents to find out more about the Mottram-Tintwistle bypass and the Glossop Spur.   The meeting will take place at Bradbury Community House, Market Street, Glossop at 7pm. If you live locally and wish to attend you can find further details on the High Peak Council website On Monday planetFear will feature a short report and a stunning photo gallery of the recent Summer International Meet held by the BMC at Plas Y Brenin Source: BMC ———————————————————————– If you have any news worth reporting please contact Matt – matt@planetfear.com / 0114 2969114 ———————————————————————–
