Bristol´s Climbing Academy Opens Next Tuesday

by Kevin Avery – UKC Assistant Editor A new institute of higher climbing learning is opening in Bristol next Tuesday, 9th December. The Climbing Academy is a new bouldering wall situated just behind Big Yellow Storage on the A4320 St Phillips Causeway close to Bristol city centre (map and directions). The brainchild of Paul Twomey and Rich Emerson there are 750 square meters of climbing wall with over 200 problems set that include Font style colour circuits to suit all abilities. There are 3 large circuit boards and a dedicated training area, a café – serving espresso of course, and showers. The Academy will also feature events, including competitions and Chris Sharma is already booked to give a lecture in the new year. From the photos the Academy looks superb (www.theclimbingacademy.com) and climbing standards will no doubt increase in the Bristol area with the opening of this dedicated bouldering facility.
