British Guidebook Nominated For Banff Award

The 2006 BMC publication Burbage, Millstone & Beyond has been nominated for the Banff Mountain Exposition Award at the forthcoming Banff Mountain Film Festival. Volume editor, and renowned photographer Dave Simmonite is chuffed to bits that a British cragging guide has beaten off the likes of Sport Climbs In The Canadian Rockies and Rock Climbing Europe. The four finalists for the annual award are: Bhutan: A Trekker?s Guide, Bart Jordans, Cicerone Press (UK, 2005) 1852843985 Burbage, Millstone and Beyond, David Simmonite, editor, BMC (UK, 2006) 0-903908-77-8 Colorado Ice: Vol.1, 2nd Edition, Jack Roberts, Polar Star Publishing (USA, 2005) 0-965109-1-8 Thailand: A Climbing Guide, Sam Lightner, The Mountaineers Books (USA, 2005) 0-89886-750-9 But we reckon the Thai guide is only in because its predecessor had so many pictures of scantily clad men and women lounging around on golden beaches 😉 Other British finalists in other categories include: Mountain Literature: The Boys of Everest: Chris Bonington and the Tragedy of Climbing?s Greatest Generation, Clint Willis, Carroll & Graf (USA, 2006) 0-7867-1579-0 The Climbing Essays, Jim Perrin, Neil Wilson Publishing Ltd (UK, 2006) 1-903238-47-1 Mount Everest: The Reconnaissance 1935 ?
