Six members of the British team attended. The chief route setter was fellow Brit Jamie Cassidy, which gave some of the GB competitors high hopes that they could do well.GB female competitor Diane Merrick just missed out on qualifying, coming in at 21st place (the top 20 go through).GB male competitors Dave Barrans and Stew Watson both made it through the qualifiers in to the semi finals.Dave Barrans commented:”The semi finals were delayed by a few hours thanks to some fine British-style weather. Stew climbed well but missed a crucial Egyptian on the first problem, leaving him in 8th place, but his highest world cup placing to date. I finally had the semi I'm capable of, climbing three out of the four problems and qualifying for my first World Cup final in 1st place!”Both Barrans and Watson climbed well coming in at 6th and 8th respectively.Barrans said:”The final was great to be in and very close, unfortunately I had pulled my shoulder in the semi's making locking off a bit harder than normal, that coupled with very little skin for the tiny crimps meant I slipped to 6th place. I was slightly disappointed with 6th, but I still pleased to make the final.”The next round of the World Cup is in Eindhoven on the 12th/13th June. You can read the full results published by the International Federation of Sport Climbing: IFSC WebsiteBritish Results:Women:Diane Merrick 21stRaelene Cowie 46thHelen Shilletto 51stMen:Dave Barrans 6thStew Watson 8thAdam Jeeworth 59th Jonathan Partridge 65th Dave Barrans is sponsored byPrana ,Metolius ,Evolv and theManchester Climbing Centre Diesen Artikel inkl.
