BUSA Orienteering Championships

Last weekend saw over 160 competitors defy the snow and compete in the 2006 BUSA Orienteering Championships in Scotland. Saturday?s Long Individual race was held in the tough forests of South Achray and the relays at the much faster (without 6 inches of snow at least) Kinneil Wood on the Sunday.Sheffield were reigning Champions but found themselves closely beaten by the hosts of the weekend Edinburgh University with Oxford in 3rd place. Saturday?s race was also a selection race for the World Student Champs to be held in Slovakia this summer which added to the competition as several 1 year downers ran as guests in the hope of helping their selection chances (in brackets below). Rachael Elder of Sheffield and Murray Strain of Edinburgh were crowned 2006 BUSA Champions with Sheffield and Edinburgh taking the relay gold medals.Results below Individaul Championship: Men: 1.
