by Alan James A climber has been killed and two others injured when their abseil collapsed while descending Tower Ridge on Ben Nevis. The accident happened at the weekend after their attempt on the route was halted by poor conditions and deep snow. They set up an abseil from a block and one of the team started his descent when the block gave way. The other two climbers were pulled off and all three fell some distance down the gully. One of the climbers managed to alert the Mountain Rescue with his mobile phone.
