Climbing magazine changes

Last month, we reported that the US climbing magazine, Rock & Ice had been bought by former Climbing publisher, Duane Raleigh and Production Manager, Quent Williams.Climbing, has now announced a number of promotions and changes to its staff. Jonathan Thesenga has been promoted to the position of Editor, replacing former editor Michael Benge.Matt Stanley is now Senior Editor, having previous experience as editor and writer with Climbing and MountainZone.com.The position of Associate Editor goes to Matt Samet (a contributer since 1996) whilst art direction remains with art director John McMullen and associate art director Michael Freeman. According to Thesenga, “We will continue to provide the same editorial integrity, but are pleased about the fresh, creative opportunities the staff changes have afforded us. We are looking ahead to a new era at Climbing Magazine that embraces the youth and energy of the sport as well as its rich history.”
