Danny Cattell (17) climbs Font 8a+

Danny Cattell (recently turned 17) has had a productive start to the new year.On a short trip to Fontainbleau, Danny made very quick ascents of:Carnage 7b+Medaillon 7b+Magic Bus 7b+Pince Mi, Pince Moi 7b+Eclipse 7cCoccinnelle 7c+L?Hypothese 7c+Back on home territory Danny set his sights on his boulder problem project – a link up in Parisella?s Cave, North Wales. On his fifth visit Danny managed to redpoint the 25 move monster.?Danny?s Finish? (V12, Font 8a+) follows Neil Dyer?s ?Greenheart Connection? but rather than finishing up Beaver Cleaver (V7), Danny chose to finish up the slightly harder but less reach dependent ?Clever Beaver? (V8). We think this makes Danny the youngest Briton yet to climb Font 8a+. Danny will be competing for the planetFear team at the Lost Arrow team boulder comp at the Edge, Sheffield, next weekend.Whilst on the subject of the Cattell?s, Danny?s brother Sam flashed Jasmine at Bamford during the week along with flashes by Simon Moore and Neil Kershaw. They all felt it was about E6 6b with pads and spotters. Simon also on-sighted Meanstreak, a bold E6 6b wall at Froggatt. Also of note on the Grit Dave Sutcliffe has repeated Carmen Picasso at Gorple, strangely, without using the top wire, grading it solid E8. Not sure about his thinking there, but a good effort nonetheless.
