Following his recent success in the first two rounds of the Bouldering World Cup, Malcolm Smith has just placed 5th in the European Championships in Chamonix. In a very close competition with most of Europe´s best boulderers Malcolm beat Jerome Meyer of France, the reigning World champion. Christian Core won the event with Mauro Calibani in second and Salavat Rakhmetov (a previous winner of the FIBO in Sheffield) in third. Fellow Brits Andy Earl, Miles Gibson and Chris Graham finished in 21st, 25th and 40th place respectively. 
The women´s event was won, predictably, by Sandrine Levet, with Fanny Rogeaux in second and Vera Kotasova in third. Representing the UK Sadie Renwick finished in a very respectable 20th place.
