SMC (Sales and Marketing Consultancy), a young British company which provided services to the outdoor industry, and whose clients included brands such as Singing Rock and Garmont has ceased trading. SMC was just about to secure half a million pounds of finance, when foot and mouth hit the headlines and the investors pulled out. As the outdoor industry suffered under the draconian access restrictions imposed, SMC´s turnover was reduced from ninety thousand to three thousand pounds a month, and was unable to continue with such losses.
