FRIDAY NIGHT VIDEO: Trip dans le Peak District

The video below was made by Yann Corby and Freddy about a trip made by a group of French climbers to the Peak District in April 2009. On the escalade-alsace blog you can read Yann Corby's full version of the trip (in French) which includes more about their exploits on the grit as well including ascents of London Wall, Edge Lane and attempts on Balance it Is at Burbage. Try Google Translate, it is a good read.Yann Corby:The story of this journey began in February 2009 when Thomas Leleu, Peter Bollinger and I decided to go on a trip.Peter was adamant, it had to be Spain! His last visit to Margalef went very well, two 8c's completed very quickly, and a few more that looked do-able. He then went on to tell us how beautiful the place was and how great it would be for filming and photography.Despite this picture-perfect image, Thomas and I were not convinced. For us a trip to Spain would be swimming with the tide; going to sunny crowded crags – very predictable. We wanted something different, a sense of history, and we found it in the Peak District in England, our dream destination!I had been before following the recommendation of Jean-Minh Trinh-Thieu and Loïc Fossard, and on that trip we found a unique atmosphere that I hadn't encountered anywhere else. In a few short miles you go from bolted limestone cliffs to the gritstone where it is soloing or gear. This is the place that has seen the exploits of Fawcett, Dawes, Moffat, Moon, or more recently Smith and MacClure; mythical routes like London Wall, Master's Edge, Parthian Shot, Revelations, Hubble and many more … Diesen Artikel inkl.
