Gibson last minute ascent of Mandala

Miles Gibson has just returned from a successful trip to the American bouldering Mecca of Bishop.Holiday highlight was his ascent of the modern extreme classic “Mandala” V12 snatched on the last day of his stay. On his first attempt Miles made it through the crux but blew the flash while trying to control a footless swing off the problems notorious “razor crimps”. After a day of unsuccessful attempts Gibson returned with the diminutive Lynn Hill as spotter and sent the 30 degree overhanging prow first go. This is the fourth British ascent, after Ian Vickers, Tim Clifford and Matt Birch
