Happy Tyroleans, IX 2nd ascent

One of Scotland´s hardest mixed routes, ´Happy Tyroleans´ on Cairngorm has been repeated by Dave MacLeod. The route was put up by visiting Austrians Florian Shranz and co in redpoint style (worked and with some fixed gear) in 2000. It was given a guessed grade of “VII,9 or 10” but the Austrians conceded that they were not familar with the Scottish grading system. After a near on sight flash in 2000, Dave returned to complete the ground up ascent, also leading the top (VII,7) pitch. Dave and Alan Mullin who seconded both considered the route more like IX,10.
