National Trust Scotland opens Glencoe

"I am pleased to inform you that following appropriate risk assessments having been made, The National Trust for Scotland is allowing conditional access to some of its Glencoe Mountains as from Saturday morning, 24th March 2001. Access to Buachaille Etive Mor and Stob na Broige will be from the A82 at Altnafeadh while access to Bein Fhada, Stob Coire Sgreamhach, Bidean nam Bian and Stob Coire nan Lochan will be from the two “Piper´s Laybys” in Glen Coe itself.Disinfectant baths will be provided and the public are requested to use them and co-operate with a number of other simple requests. The NTS is extremely aware of the concerns of the agricultural and tourism businesses in the area and hopes that this trial scheme will be responsibly used and allow access to the key areas of the property. We would also like to express our grateful thanks to our neighbours who have been so helpful in supporting our proposals.Further information can be found on our website at nts.org.uk by telephoning our Visitor Centre (01855 811307) or e.mailing us at glencoe@nts.org.uk"
