Orienteering World Cup 1

The British Team is assembling in the town of Lapua in Finland in preparation for tomorrow´s World Cup Sprint qualification and Final. Today is the model event with team members Rob Baker, Jonathan Duncan, Scott Fraser, Graham Gristwood, Oli Johnson, Dan Marston, Neil Northrop, Matt Speake, Lizzie Adams, Aislinn Austin, Becky Carlyle, Rachael Elder, Karen Heppenstall, Jenny Johnson, Helen Palmer, Jo Stevenson, Pippa Whitehouse checking out the terrain, mapping styles and course setting. The women´s qualification is tomorrow morning from 9am with the men´s following at 9.40. Start times will be released tonight. The final is from 17.15 at the Jukola competition centre and all runners in the A final will be wearing a GPS tracking device which should ensure exciting spectating! So far there have been no surprises – the sun is in the sky all 24 hours and the mosquitos are biting. There may be a late change to the GB Team but no official announcements have yet been made.
