The classic race at the orienteering World Cup Final was held on an area of volcanic rock called ´Vulcania´, and provided a very technical and physical challenge. Nobody was able to stop the Frenchman Thierry Georgiou or the Swiss multiple world champion Simone Niggle-Luder storming to victory. Best British performances were Jon Duncan in 17th place and Helen Bridle in 20th place.  With only 1 race left in the World Cup, it is looking good for both Georgiou and Luder. Tomorrow will see the World Cup Final – a rescheduled middle race.   Men(81)13.2 km415 m 26 P 1 3 Thierry GUEORGIOUFrance 1:32:130:002 5 Valentin NOVIKOV Russia 1:36:033:493 6 Jani LAKANEN Finland1:38:095:5617 25 Jon DUNCAN Great Britain1:49:07 16:5431 27 Graham GRISTWOOD Great Britain1:58:48 26:3432 33 David BRICKHILL-JONESGreat Britain1:59:43 27:29 36 74 Scott FRASER Great Britain2:00:50 28:3651 78 Oleg CHEPELINGreat Britain2:13:06 40:5258 51 Andrew QUINIreland2:22:26 50:12 62 65 Murray STRAINGreat Britain2:25:05 52:5170 81 Neil DOBBS Ireland2:40:02 1:07:4873 61 Ivan MILLARIreland2:58:37 1:26:2474 75 Alan BARRY Ireland3:10:26 1:38:13Women(55)8.6 km310 m 20 P1 101 Simone NIGGLI-LUDERSwitzerland1:15:080:002 103 Minna KAUPPI Finland1:19:124:033 106 Emma ENGSTRAND Sweden 1:22:307:22 20 123 Helen BRIDLE Great Britain1:36:39 21:31 23 132 Mhairi MACKENZIE Great Britain1:37:52 22:44  34 138 Jo STEVENSON Great Britain1:48:03 32:55 36 114 Sarah ROLLINSGreat Britain1:48:47 33:39 38 127 Rachael ELDERGreat Britain1:50:18 35:09  42 140 Toni O´DONOVAN Ireland1:53:41 38:33 43 129 Pippa WHITEHOUSE Great Britain1:54:04 38:56  Full results and maps available here ———————————————————————– If you have any news worth reporting please contact Matt – matt@planetfear.com / 0114 2969114 ———————————————————————–
