Stewart Watson – Tao, F8c

by Jack Geldard – Editor – UKC Stewart Watson has topped off an already impressive year of climbing with the fifth ascent of Tao (F8c) at Piburger, Oetztal, Austria. Tao is a super sustained power-endurance route on perfect sculpted granite. Stewart described it thus: “Tao starts on this little ledge high above the trees with some reallyaggressive shouldery moves on bad footholds, it then leads intocontinuous technical climbing with some really long moves on goodishholds to finish… …I´m well happy to have made the 5th ascent.” Stewart is no stranger to hard sport climbing, Tao is his sixth route of F8c or above. He´s also no slouch on the boulders too – last year he made the fourth ascent of Ben Moon´s Voyager (Font8b) at Burbage. Stewart has an excellent blog: stewartwatsonclimbing.blogspot.com Stewart is sponsored by Prana, Mad Rock and Edelrid.
