Swiss hardman

Swiss hardman Reto Hartmann is currently in Oz. Australianbouldering reports: “Reto Hartmann (CH) has continued quietly sending Sydney´s test-pieces.On the same day he grabbed the first “real” ascent of The Vineyard at the Balkans and grabbed the 3rd ascent of Abacus 8A+ at Crumbly (although he´d worked each problem for a few days before). Tim O´Neill opened The Vineyard 2 years ago as a desperate pull on problem from two underclings in a roof with a big jump to a jug and top out.He did the problem with a slight foot drag feeling it was at least 7C/C+?As he went direct from the furthest apart underclings straight to the big jug it was thought that there was no way to avoid the foot touch due to the proximity of the ground (unless of course you were 7″ tall and could keep your feet on!).Well I guess he was wrong! Two years later and a new sequence was worked out that eliminated the foot touch and there you have it, the first “clean” ascent of The Vineyard and the grade 8A+!
