In an unprecedented weekend of gritstone repeats Rich Simpson has made the first ground up ascent of Careless Torque and Tyler Landman has made a very quick second ascent of Ben Moon´s November test piece at Burbage, Voyager! It was only a few weeks ago that John Welford made the fifth ascent of Careless Torque (see news), all of them having been practiced first with a top rope. Note that since that ascent John Dunne has confirmed that he made the second ascent of the problem in 1989. Rich climbed the problem on Sunday with no pre practice, consolidating his reputation as one of the UK´s best and strongest climbers. Meanwhile young Tyler Landman, just 15 years old, and with a supremely impressive recent ascent of The Ace (see news) at Stanage, made a quick (3 days) repeat of Ben Moon´s Font 8B arete ´The Voyager´ at Burbage North. Tyler reckoned the route to be Font 8B, but a little easier than The Ace. Let´s have some more of this cold sunny weather! ———————————————————————– If you have any news worth reporting please contact Matt – matt@planetfear.com / 0114 2969114 ———————————————————————–
