Source: 8a.nu Every year Arco in Italy hosts a prestigious invitation-only climbing competition. This September, on the eve of the event the organisers are introducing a couple of new awards for the best indoor and best outdoor climber of the year. The Piolet D´or is a similar award given to the most significant ascent of the year, but is largely dominated by mountaineering achievements. Hopefully the Arco Rock Legends can rectify this and fairly recognise true talent. The awards will be decided by an international panel of magazine editors – oh boy… Following hot on the heels of Europe´s biggest rock fall in 20 years on the Eiger last month, the Matterhorn has also shed a significant amount of debris of late.
