Am vergangen Freitag gipfelte die erste freie Begehung der Südostkante des Cerro Torre durch David Lama und Peter Ortner in einer umjubelten Filmpremiere auf dem Filmfestival in San Sebastian/Spanien. Dort wurde der Dokumentarfilm - "Cerro Torre - A Snowballs Chance in Hell" - über die Begehung erstmals einem begeisterten Publikum von 2.500 Besuchern präsentiert.

Im Juni hatte ein internationales Kletterteam um die The North Face Athleten Caroline Ciavaldini und James Pearson die "Zembrocal" eröffnet, eine neue Mehrseillängenroute an einer Basaltwand auf der französischen Insel La Réunion. Für Caroline Ciavaldini war die Expedition ein ganz besonderes Erlebnis: Sie verbrachte einen Großteil ihrer Kindheit auf der Insel: "Ich wollte der Welt meine kleine Insel zeigen und ich wollte den Menschen auf der Insel meine Welt zeigen. Deshalb sind wir nach La Réunion zurückgekehrt."

Alex Honnold schreibt über das Video: Cool video of personal hero Tommy Caldwell establishing the hardest route on the Diamond. And for those interested, the comments on the video are sort of a funny side story: Cedar Wright had previously posted a much worse version of this video which got quite a bit of hate. By popular demand he recut it as a much more fitting tribute to Tommy's proud effort. Props to both of them for putting good climbing clips out there for us to enjoy.

The film documents top adventure climber Leo Houlding with his tried and tested team of Jason Pickles and Sean 'Stanley' Leary as they attempt to make the first ascent of the NE ridge of the master piece of the range; the majestic Ulvetanna Peak. One of the most technically demanding climbs in one of the world's harshest environments. THE LAST GREAT CLIMB promises to be quite simply one of the most spectacular mountaineering films ever made.

Leadweltcup 2017 in Kranj: Jakob Schubert feiert 18. Weltcupsieg (c) Shinta Ozawa

Am 11. und 12.11.17 stand das Saisonfinale im Lead Weltcup 2017 in Kranj (SLO) an. Jakob Schubert dominierte den ganzen Bewerb und gewann souverän jede Runde. Im Finale kletterte er als einziger zum Top und sicherte sich so den Sieg. Es war sein 18. Weltcupsieg.
