Amazing stuff from Josune!

Josune Bereziartu has climbed a route/boulder in Balzola (Bask Country). The name is La Travesia de Balzola and the difficulty is 8c+/9a.(or 8B+ traverse) Josune says “I feel the climbing is more like a route than a boulder.” The traverse has around 40 moves and isn´t really a traverse but a roof that follows the ground slightly upwards. Josune has been trying it since 99 but as she says, “everytime I tried it I noticed I had to gain more power”. She also says it is the hardest climb she has done so far. This extremely overhanging “traverse” is not a typical woman climb (slabby, small holds, short reaches, etc.), but very powerful. The traverse was first done by Rikard Otegi 2 years ago and recently by Patxi Usobiaga. Some very strong and famous lads (no names) have been trying it for a long time but couldn´t do it…
