The BMC are often accused of being behind the times and not fully supportive of competition climbing. Well given the press release below it could be argued that they are doing something serious about dispelling this image! This combined with the emergence of Summit as a serious contender for best British climbing magazine… For the first time, live action from the North Face UIAA-ICC Bouldering World Cup at the Ordnance Survey Outdoors Show in Birmingham (17-19 March) will be webcast for free via the British Mountaineering Council website www.thebmc.co.uk/climb06 If you can?t make it down to the NEC to experience the gripping atmosphere first hand, then why not log on to see the competitors battle it out for top spot online?  In 2004, 13,000 viewers worldwide watched the World Youth Championships online. Competition for the Bouldering World Cup 2006 is hotting up, with over 70 boulderers from 17 countries due to take part.  Last year the Cup was won by Brit, Mark Croxall, in front of a capacity audience.  Can Mark or another member of the British team keep the British flame alight? BMC Chief Executive Dave Turnbull said, ?Bouldering is a fast growing sport.  We?re expecting a big turnout of support for the British team at the Outdoor Show, but those who can?t get to the NEC can now watch it live online.? Ticket holders will be able to enjoy all that?s on offer at the BMC?s ?Climb 06? area at the Outdoors Show, including climbing for beginners at the ?Come and Try It? wall.  There will be an artificial ice wall and 3 climbing walls as well as a 12 metre stalactite suspended from the ceiling for you to climb.
