Bouldering & Leading: National Team Trials

Dates for the British Bouldering and Leading team trials have been announced. The Team compete at international events and have regular training sessions. The British Team Trials are open to anyone who is eligible to compete for Great Britain (i.e. holds a GBR passport). Others may be invited at the discretion of the BMC. Venue: The Climbing Works, Sheffield. 9th December 2006. Registration/warm up opens 8:00-9:00am. Climbing starts 10:00am Price for non members: £15 / Price for BMC/MCofS/MCI members: £10 The deadline for entries is 5pm on 4th December 2006. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. The British Leading Team Trials 2006 The British Leading Team Trials 2006 is a single event.  The Team Trials will be used as the primary selection process for the British Leading Teams 2007. The Teams compete at international events and have regular training sessions. The British Team Trials are open to anyone who is eligible to compete for Great Britain (i.e. holds a GBR passport).  Others may be invited at the discretion of the BMC. Juniors The format of the ?competition? will be virtually identical to that of a BICC i.e. 2 ?flash? qualifiers and an on-sight final. This mirrors the format of international events. (Flash means the routes are demonstrated and you can watch everyone else). Seniors Everyone attempts 3 routes on-sight. Again this mirrors the international format. Due to the international definitions of Junior & Senior there is the paradox whereby you can be in both the Junior and Senior Leading Teams ? it is possible to compete internationally as a Junior up to 19 but you can also compete as a Senior from 16. So the Senior Trials will also act as Trials for the older (16-19 year old) members of the Junior Team. This sounds strange but has been established practise at the BICC?s. Those who turn 16 between 31 Aug & 2 Dec have the choice of which Trials to enter. Venue: The Leeds Wall, Leeds. 2 December 2006. Registration/warm up opens 8:00-9:00am.  Climbing starts 10:00am Seniors:  Price for none members £15.00 Price for BMC/MCofS/MCI members £10.00 Juniors:  Price for none members £12.50 Price for BMC/MCofS/MCI members £7.50 The deadline for entries is 5pm on 27th November 2006. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. Application forms for both events from the BMC website. Or email graeme@thebmc.co.uk Note: For those that are interested in helping the development of competitions in the UK The BMC Competition Committee has 2 Competitor Reps, one for Bouldering and one for Leading.  These are elected positions. We need to elect new Reps at the Trials. So if you are interested please let us know (graeme@thebmc.co.uk) The Reps are expected to attend Committee meetings (3-5 a year) and take part in the planning and decision making process for all aspects of the BMC?s Competition Programme. They are also expected to, well, represent their fellow competitors so need to be prepared to talk and listen to suggestions from other competitors. ———————————————————————– If you have any news worth reporting please contact Matt – matt@planetfear.com / 0114 2969114 ———————————————————————–
