British Championship Hill Running: Donard-Commedagh

Saturday saw the running of the first race in the 2007 British Fell and Hill Running Championship. The series kicked off with the medium Donard-Commedagh race from Newcastle, Northern Ireland. The race took in the Mourne Mountain summits of Slieve Donard and Slieve Commedagh in a 6.8mile loop from the town of Newcastle. The race was won in a course record time of 1.02.01 by Rob Hope (Pudsey and Bramley) with defending British Champion Rob Jebb (Bingley) 41 seconds behind. Third place was taken by Rob Hopes younger brother Danny. The womens race was also won in a record time of 1.11.28 by Angela Mudge (Carnethy), with Natalie White (Bingley) second and Sharon Taylor (Bingley) third.
