Capricorn 2007

This year?s Capricorn Mountain Marathon was the first such event to take place in the Peak District for over 20 years (the KIMM 1984 was the last). The terrain of Alport Moor and Kinder provided a tough physical and technical challenge over a rare weekend of sunny weather, although the saturated peat hags were a constant reminder of this summer?s torrential rainfall.Oli Johnson won the A class with a clear margin over 2nd placed Richard Dearden, with first veteran, Paul Addison finishing in 3rd. Mike Sprot extended a 10 second overnight lead to win the B class, Neil Conway took a narrow victory on the C class and Steve Wright was 1st on D. The popular Long Score class was won by Steve Webb and the Short Score by Andy Llewellyn, whose score would have placed him 5th on the Long, in spite of spending 2 ½ hours less time on the fells.Full report to follow.
