Climbing and Trekking Expedition Symposium at PyB

For anyone interested in organising their own expedition involving either major treks, distant summits or first ascents, then the Expedition Symposium over the weekend of November 7th-8th at Plas y Brenin will be of interest.Whether you are putting together an independent trip to the greater ranges for the first time or a seasoned campaigner, there'll be plenty to enjoy and learn for everyone. The National Mountain Centre will be dedicated to hosting the numerous workshops, presentations and lectures that will be at the heart of the symposium. But a big plus will be the chance to put questions first-hand to some of Britain's most experienced and accomplished mountaineers – probably at the bar! Some of the topics that'll be covered include: Planning and Logistics, Environmental Impact, The Team and Style, Remote First Aid, Dealing with Altitude, Glacier Travel, Expedition Filming and Photography, GPS Masterclass and Emergency Use of Rope for Trekkers. The Big Wall Climbing workshop will give climbers the opportunity to learn about hauling, aiding and living on a portaledge. DMM and other outdoor companies will also be on hand over the weekend to give you the chance of having a look at their latest gear and help with any queries you've got about about the kit.Cost is £100 per person for 2-nights accommodation, all your meals and all the workshops. You can book online here: www.pyb.co.uk/courses/expedition-symposium Diesen Artikel inkl.
