Climbing Magazine Sold

Alpinist gave a detailed report yesterday of the sale of Climbing Magazine to Urban Climber Magazine. Climbing Magazine has long been the dominant US mag, always maintaining higher readership levels than rival Rock & Ice. In recent years these numbers had fallen as the editorial had struggled to appeal to the younger generation of indoor climbers and boulderers. This acquisition by Urban Climber Magazine, who specialise in just that market, should allow for both, a kind of reversal of the merger of OTE and High magazines into Climb in the UK in 2005. Not so long ago tech-heads and dotcom  enthusiasts were heralding the doom of printed media, but it would seem that the opposite has happened, with the birth of Alpinist and Vertical on the international market, and Friction and Gravity at home we´ve never had so much choice of what to read.Source: Alpinist
