Czechs Climb Shark´s Fin Gem

Czech climbers Marek Holecek and Jan Kreisinger have climbed one of the ´last great problems´ in the Himalaya. Their route up the North West prow of Meru Central (Shark´s Fin) in the Garhwal Himalaya has been tried at least 16 times, including attempts by Johnny Dawes (who dropped one of his boots!), Paul Pritchard, and twice by the late Jules Cartwright. The route featured climbing up to f7a, M5 and 80 degree ice and took 13 days to climb.Interestigly Marek made the news last year when he was misdirected and went missing whilst on the BMC Winter International Meet in Scotland!
