Edu Marin Banned from International Comps for 2 years

The Spanish climber Edu Marin has been banned for 2 years from international competition climbing by the IFSC (website here) for testing positive for cocaine at a leading event held in Zurich in June 2007. Edu, 22, has been a regular competitor on the international climbing circuit for the last 6 years but only competed twice this year spending more time on the rock instead. In the last 18 months Edu has repeated La Rambla (9a+) and Rich Simpson´s A Muerte (9a). Edu has admitted taking the banned substance and alongside this being his first offence his ban is for the minimum 2 years. He is banned from all IFSC competitions from 1st August 2007 until 1st August 2009. During this period, he cannot compete in or be involved in any competition organised or authorised by IFSC. There is an excellent interview with Edu Marin on 8a.nu website here>> Source:IFSC
