The Kendal Mountain Film Festival 16th-18th November 2001, presented byBerghaus. www.mountainfilm.co.uk There have been some fantastic climbing and mountain films made recently.Many are UK premiers, which you will never have the chance to see again. Over 150 films were entered into the Festival film competition and we have selected the 50 best and most interesting, including two large format films (IMAX type) ? Shackleton and Everest. Thomas Huber is being flown over especially by Festival Presenting Sponsors Berghaus to give a lecture that will include his fascinating story of the long awaited second ascent of the Ogre in the Pakistan Karakorum. Many regard Thomas as the world?s leading all-round climber with ascents of the hardest rock routes and alpine style Himalayan climbs. He joins and already strong lecture program of Doug Scott, Mick Fowler, Bu Bu (Mario Bole), Jim Curran, Airlie Anderson, Johnny Dawes, Niall Grimes, Steve Razzetti, Bill O? Connor, Rab Anderson, Ian Mitchell and Jack Law, plus BMC, MEF and Nick Estcourt Award expedition lectures. The Festival will also hold art exhibitions by famous Lakeland artist Julian Heaton Cooper and Chamonix based Andy Parkin will display his mountain art.Photographs on the Himalayas will be the subject of Cumbrian based Steve Razzetti. There will also be Seminars on filmmaking; art and photography plus a bouldering competition open to all.The top entries in the prestigious Eagle Creek and Therm-a-Rest mountain photographic competition will also be displayed.
