The Kendal Mountain Film Festival ended this weekend with British films doing well in all categories. Posing Productions (website) once again won the People´s Choice award for their film Psyche which premiered at the festival on the Friday night. Posing Productions have an excellent record at Kendal winning the People´s Choice award for previous films Set in Stone & Storms: The Movie. Other British films doing well included Committed (website) which won an award for Best Short for Keen Youth, a profile of James Pearson. The independent Irish climbing film Underdeveloped (website) received two prestigious ´special mentions´ in the Climbing & Special Jury Award categories which is impressive for a film made by students on 2nd hand cameras. The film showcases the small climbing scene in Ireland and the young climbers making their mark on the impressive crags. The Grand Jury prize went to King Lines (website), a film that follows Chris Sharma as he travels the world putting up first ascents at the cutting edge of the sport. Also at the festival this weekend, the Boardman-Tasker Prize for Mountain Literature was Robert MacFarlane´s Wild Places.
