Neil Gresham pushes it on Scottish ice

Neil Gresham has made the first ascent of ´The Tempest´, M9/Scottish 10 at Stob coire nan Lochan, near Glencoe in Scotland, forgoing an attendance at the IWC in Pitztal to try the route. The route itself involves technical mixed climbing with marginal tool placements and, Neil says, a “spectacular finish up a thin ice smear”. The route was equipped with in-situ protection, and requierd three days of practice prior to the ascent. Next to Mark Garthwaite´s ´Logical Progression´, (M10), ´The Tempest´ is the hardest ´sport-style´ mixed route in the UK.
