Paul RobinsonAmerican Boulderer Paul Robinson made a flying visit to the Peak District on Monday the 9th and climbed for a few hours on the Peak Gritstone.Despite never having climbed there before and only having a few hours, Robinson, who is one of the World's leading boulderers and has previously climbed up to V16/Font 8C+, made short work of the Stanage classics Deliverance (Font 7B+), Brad Pitt (Font 7C+) and The Ace (Font 8B), on which he fell on the last move on the flash attempt.Robinson, who is on an extended trip to Europe from the USA is now back in Fontainebleau, France, and commented on the Gritstone on his blog:Rob Napier, spotted by Tom Pape, attempting The Joker (Font 8A) – the stand start to The Ace (Font 8B)UKC News, Jan 2011© Keith Sharples Photography”The rock is so gritty, sometimes it feels like it would be impossible for your hand to slip off. It is incredible! Also, you can stand on the smallest of foot holds imaginable……Every climb I did and the few brief hours I had on the grit were incredible… Thanks to everyone that showed me around and showed me great hospitality!
