Peak Parking Permits

Did you know that you can buy a parking permit for pay and display car parks in the Peak District? Neither did I until I spoke to a warden last week. Telephone the Park Offices on 01629816219 and give your name and address for an application pack to be sent to you. For those living in the Park an annual pass costs just £7, and for those outside, £20. A third of England´s population (15.7 million people) live within one hour´s drive of the Park. 60% of visitors come for the day. Traffic volume on cross Park routes increased by 101% between 1980 and 1999. 87% of visitors come by car. In 1999 4,658,000 tonnes of limestone were extracted from the Park.
