Right To Roam – Maps

Draft maps detailing proposed areas of the countryside where people will have the right to roam were published today. It is the first stage of the government plan to ensure free access to most mountains, moorland and commonland in England (a separate scheme is in motion for Wales, and Scotland has its own ´Land Reform Bill´). Although the new access rights will not be fully implemented until 2005, the first draft maps for parts of the South East and Lower North West of England have been completed and are available online here The public have until February 2002 to make objections or observations relating to these maps. Click here or here for more information on the Bill.
