Whirlwind, ~8C, by Berni Schwaiger

Bernhard Schwaiger on Whirlwind, ~8CBjörn Pohl – UKC, Nov 2010© Schwaiger coll.Bernhard Schwaiger, one of the lone wolves of bouldering, has done it again. Another ridiculously difficult FA on tiny crimps in a roof. After realising the line was possible a while back, the race against time was on. In this part of the world, the Austrian alps, winter and snow could arrive any day. Berni got to work and very nearly made it two and a half weeks later, only to fall on the very last difficult move and then, to make things worse, the snow came…But, where there's a will, there's also a way.A one hour approach wading through knee deep snow would perhaps discourage most, but not Berni Schwaiger. What's perhaps even more impressive is that he managed to persuade his girlfriend to tag along!Bernhard Schwaiger on Whirlwind, ~8CBjörn Pohl – UKC, Nov 2010© Schwaiger coll. The man got his reward however and managed to make the FA of Whirlwind, which he estimates should weigh in around 8C or so.Source: Berni's blog, where you'll also find lots of photos.
