Lakes hardest winter route?

The recent cold snap has resulted in a return match for Stephen Ashworth on a winter ascent of Gable Crag´s 3 star summer E3 5c, Snicker Snack.Ashworth had tried the line previously, most recently in late December, when he snapped an axe.Success came last Friday, torquing his way to the first ascent of perhaps the Lakes´ hardest winter route at VIII 9, which he has dubbed ´Snicker Snap´.The following day, Dave Hunter and Nick Bullock beat a certain Mr Birkett to the crag for the second ascent, confirming the grade and quality.With the cold weather continuing, expect more impressive stuff from the Lakes.
