by Alan James – UKC Autumn 2008 sees the release of a documentary celebrating the life and achievements of one of the finest raw talents to emerge from the British climbing scene. Andy Parkin – ?A Life in Adaptation? looks at the life of the Sheffield lad who despite adversity has become one of the world´s outstanding solo climbers and a widely acclaimed artist. Produced by Blue Hippo Media and Weekday Productions, the film is now being internationally recognised and sponsored by UKClimbing.com as the UK media partner. Blue Hippo producer Pip Piper says: “This was a special project which deserved a unique approach. We have been working with Andy on this film for the past 15 months and are delighted to announce that UKClimbing.com, Climbing and Urban Climber, TV Mountain.com are to become its official media sponsors.” The film charts Andy´s life from his origins in a gritty 1970´s Sheffield, his rise as a notable climber, his near fatal accident, gradual recovery and rediscovery of the artist within. Andy has now gained wide respect for his creativity and incredibly, despite his physical restrictions, has returned to cutting edge of challenging first ascents across the globe.The film is set for release this Autumn as it goes to film festivals and will be available on DVD.
