British Orienteering Championships Results

British Orienteering Championships 2006 Last weekend saw over a thousand orienteers descend on the forests near Midhurst in West Sussex for the national Long and Relay orienteering championships. In the Men?s Elite Class former World Champion Jamie Stevenson (South Yorkshire Orienteers) took the Gold ahead of GB team-mates Graham Gristwood and Matt Crane.2005 World Championship Bronze Medallist Heather Monro (South London) won the Women?s Elite with planetFear?s own Jenny Whitehead (SYO) taking the Silver and Sheffield University?s Rachael Elder the Bronze. In the U21 Elite classes Lizzie Adams of Sheffield University and Duncan Coombs of Edinburgh University were crowned champions. Sunday?s relay saw Warrior win the Men?s title after holders Sheffield University were disqualified when first leg runner Neil Northrop missed a control out. In the women?s Cleveland Orienteers won by a clear margin.
