Karl Bushby, the explorer who was recently detained in Russia, roughly half way through his 11 year odyssey-walk around the world, has had his appeal against the detention upheld, and is once again on his way into the record books.planetFear will shortly be giving away 5 copies of his first book Giant Steps, which chronicles his travels from Punta Arenas in Southern Chile, to Alaska, a journey that has taken him over 7 years to complete. He was held in Russia after becoming the first person to cross the Baring Straits on foot (with companion Dimitri Kieffer). Despite stepping in to the record books with this achievement he was duly arrested when he entered Russia as he didn´t have the relevant paperwork! There was a real scare that he would be deported from the country for good, effectively ending his ambition to walk from the Southern tip of South America back home to Hull, walking the entire way!
