On the 13th of July a massive rockfall took place on the Eiger, one of the world´s most iconic mountains. The rock landslide had been predicted for weeks, with a visible crack widening at a rate of up to 35 inches a day! The fall is the biggest for around 15 years in Europe and comprised millions of tonnes of rock. A video can be seen at Yourtube. It´s not known whether any climbing routes have been obliterated.
