Everest Age Limit Proposed

The Nepalese Mountaineering Authority has propsed that climbers under sixteen should not be allowed to take part on expeditions on Mount Everest. The suggestion comes just a year after Temba Tsheri, a sixteen year old Sherpa scaled the 8,850 meters peak just a few days after his birthday to become the youngest climber to climb the peak. He broke the record on his second attempt after losing five fingers to frostbite and nearly dying on his first. In 1999, a 15-year-old Nepali boy, Arvin Timilsina, suffered snow blindness near the summit before being rescued by Sherpa guides. Source: Ananova
