Miles Gibson has just bagged another of his long term projects, this time at Moorside Rocks in between Gardoms and Birchens. The route tackles the bulging wall on the buttress in between Charlotte Dumpling (E4 5c) and Jackalope (E3 6b). Having tried the line on and off for the past goodness knows how many weekends he ventured out again today amidst frequent showers. After trying to keep the route dry by hanging a series of bouldering mats over it the sun came out and it was time. After a straightforward boulder problem onto a large ankle breaking ledge the route turns serious. 7 dynamic moves, all around the 6c mark, saw him standing triumphantly on top as another rain-shower began. He hasen´t yet named the route, but feels it is around E8 6c, even with a cluster of mats and three spotters. Previously unreported, back in October he made another noteworthy first ascent of the obvious un-climbed arete on the Hurkling Stones on Derwent Moor. Having worked out the sequence on a top rope, he dispatched the route despite feeling very poorly to produce ´Sick Arete´ at E6 6c. Ben Heason, who had been spotting, him returned at a later date to flash the second ascent.
