Hinkes to attempt Kanchenjunga

Britain´s most famous high altitude peak-bagger, Alan Hinkes, has announced that he´s returning to Kanchenjunga at the end of this month to try and tick off his 13th 8000m summit.Alan successfully reached the top of what many describe as the next most dangerous (after K2) 8000er, Annapurna last spring.Whilst it wasn´t quite in the same league as Frenchman, Jean Christophe Lafaille´s effort on the same mountain (he climbed a daring new route), Al was the first Brit to reach the top for over 30 years. With just Kanchenjunga and Dhaulagiri to go before he completes his “Challenge 8000”, Hinkes must be looking forward to retirement.
