International Slacklining Festival

The first ever international slacklining festival is due to take place in Austria in July. With the likes of Dean Potter there to show you how it´s done and Heinz Zak to film and photograph the antics it sounds well worth a visit. There will be classes and workshops, demonstrations and competitions, a party and plenty more going on. It costs 18 Euros, but that includes your camping. Email info@invia.de for more details or to register. Source: Freakclimbing Slacklining is a balance sport which utilizes tubular nylon webbing stretched tight between two anchor points. Slacklining is distinct from tightrope walking in that the line is not held rigidly taut; it is instead dynamic, stretching and bouncing like a large rubber band. The line´s tension can be adjusted to suit the user. The line itself is flat, due to the nature of webbing, thus keeping the slacker´s footing from rolling as would be the case with an ordinary rope. The dynamic nature of the line allows for impressive tricks and stunts.
