Kendal Film Festival winners

Bruce Parry and Mark Anstice´s film ´Cannibals and Crampons´, about an expedition through the jungles of New Guinea was the film everyone was talking about this weekend at the Kendal Mountain Film Festival. The prize for the best Mountaineering film went to ´The Second Step´, a remarkable film about double above the knee amputee, Warren McDonald´s 28 day journey and climb of Federation Peak in Tasmania. Both of these films had also won at the Banff Film Festival. The winner in the Climbing category was ´Desert Friction´, the Mountain Adventure prize went to ´Deepest Patagonia and the Mountain Culture and & Environment prize was won by Shiva?s Matted Locks. There were some excellent lectures over the weekend, with Timmy O´Neil´s performance being a personal favourite – anyone who turns up with a John Dunne mask and dares to take the micky out of the man himself, whilst sitting next to him on stage deserves a special mention!Congratulations to the event organisers…
